Every spring, the Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, and probably most Hindu temples around the world, holds the Holika festival of colors. I went to said festival with a date, some friends, a sister, and a sister's friend. The festival begins with performers singing and dancing and such, then they set fire to the effigy of a woman, seen here.
Now, I know this sound creepy and demonic, but she's evil, so it's okay. You can read her story here if you'd like. So when this fire is lit, several thousand people about my age begin throwing handfulls brightly colored chalk-like substance into eachothers faces. Within seconds, the entire crowd is enveloped in an enormous cloud of multi-colored fun.
...and when the dust settles, the true extent of the damage becomes apparent.
